Hosta The Heart of the Sunrise 5.25" Pot Well Rooted Perennial Shade Plant

Humble Hen Farm & Nursery
Size: 22" H x 40" W
Common Name: Hosta

Hosta 'Heart of the Sunrise'

A radiant and highly striking specimen registered by hybridizer Rob Mortko in 2023, this large standout injects a brilliant, sunny glow directly into deeply shaded spaces. An exceptional all-gold sport mutation of the famous 'Goodness Gracious', its heavy, thick-substanced, heart-shaped leaves form a majestic mounding focal point in any landscape. What makes this hosta truly extraordinary is the intense, architectural texture; the luminous chartreuse-gold foliage is deeply corrugated with beautifully impressed veins and finished with tight, finely rippled margins that capture dappled light like a morning sunrise.

In early summer, stout and clean flower scapes emerge just above the brilliant golden mound, bearing dense, elegant clusters of near-white blooms that bring an airy, delicate contrast to the heavy, bold leaves below.

Maturing to a substantial 22 inches tall and spreading up to 40 inches wide, it delivers true giant hosta presence while retaining a neat, tightly structured specimen habit. Exceptionally hardy in Zones 3–9, its thick leaf substance provides outstanding slug resistance, ensuring its luminous golden-yellow foliage looks crisp, clean, and pristine all season long.

Pair this stunning cultivar with premium companion plants from our collection, like the classic, dense groundcover of Convallaria majalis 'Hardwick Hall' or a shimmering, variegated Carex 'Ice Dance' Sedge to design a clean, contrasting border.

Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves.

Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions.  Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG.
