Hosta 'Solitude'

The breathtaking Hosta 'Solitude' delivers an atmosphere of calm, serene elegance to shaded settings, establishing itself as a coveted masterpiece for collectors of premium blue foliage. Developed by master hybridizer Don Dean in 2018 through a complex, multi-generational lineage involving 'Frosted Dimples' and 'Pewterware', this rare medium-sized perennial creates a beautifully structured, twisted mound of architectural interest. The thick, heart-shaped leaves are gently cupped, lightly dimpled, and trimmed with nicely ruffled, wavy margins that evoke a sense of graceful, fluid motion. Coated in a heavy, intense silvery-blue glaucous wax, its resilient foliage offers outstanding protection against slug damage while maintaining its frosty, luminous quality deep into the summer heat. In late summer, strong scapes rise above the soothing, blue canopy to present fertile, bell-shaped pale lavender flowers that complete its artistic layout.

Incorporate this unique selection into your shaded borders or woodland features by pairing it with delicate, shade-loving ferns, fine-textured variegated sedges, or the rich crimson plumes of dramatic astilbes to elevate the underlying textures of your garden layout.

Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves.

Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions. Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG
