Hosta 'Shamrock Shake'
A refreshing and highly distinct collector's variety from hybridizer Dan Wols, this cool standout brings an entirely unique palette to the shade landscape. Derived from a complex lineage including 'Skywriter' and 'Miss American Pie', its lance-shaped leaves emerge with a cool, frosty mint-green color that looks crisp and bright all season long. What makes this plant truly spectacular is the intense contrast of its heavily rippled, wavy leaf margins cascading down to meet rich, deeply saturated purple petioles.
In mid-summer, stout scapes rise cleanly above the frosty foliage mound, displaying dense clusters of soft lavender flowers that enhance the plant's elegant form while bringing a gentle splash of color to quiet woodland beds.
Maturing to a tidy medium size of 15 inches tall and spreading up to 28 inches wide, it forms a perfectly balanced, eye-catching mound that commands attention in shady borders or container displays. Exceptionally hardy in Zones 3–9, it is a sturdy, long-lived perennial showpiece that naturally grows more deeply puckered and heavily rippled with every year.
Pair this stunning cultivar with excellent companion plants from our collection, like the architectural Athyrium 'Crested Surf' Fern or a vibrant gold-variegated Carex 'Ice Dance' Sedge to create an instantly mature, contrasting shade vignette.
Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves.
Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions. Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG.
