Hosta 'Autumn Frost'

A true showstopper from the acclaimed Proven Winners® SHADOWLAND® Collection, this award-winning medium perennial comes from a legendary lineage of garden champions. A tetraploid sport mutation of 'First Frost'—which traces its ancestry directly back to the ultimate blue standard, 'Halcyon'—it features thick, heavily substanced, heart-shaped leaves that emerge a striking, frosty powder-blue in the spring. What makes this cultivar exceptionally luminous is its extraordinarily wide, bright lemon-yellow margins that gracefully transition into a clean, contrasting creamy-white as the summer heat progresses.

In mid-to-late summer, strong, erect scapes rise cleanly above the brilliant foliage mound, displaying dense clusters of elegant, tubular light lavender flowers that bring an airy, delicate texture while attracting hummingbirds to your quiet garden corners.

Maturing to a compact height of 12 inches and spreading up to 24 inches wide, its low, compact mounding habit is perfectly suited for shady borders, woodland pathways, or decorative patio containers. Remarkably hardy across Zones 3–9, its extra-thick leaf substance gives it phenomenal slug resistance, ensuring its painted variegation holds its crisp, pristine definition flawlessly from spring until winter dormancy sets in.

Pair this stunning cultivar with excellent companion plants from our collection, like the unique, dark foliage of Astilbe 'Dark Side of the Moon' or the brilliant structural fronds of the 'Brilliance' Autumn Fern to build a deeply layered, vibrant shade vignette.

Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves.

Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions.  Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG.
