Hosta 'Sapphire Pillows'
The magnificent Hosta 'Sapphire Pillows' introduces an atmosphere of luxurious, serene opulence to low-light gardens, operating as an elite large specimen that instantly anchors a shade layout. Registered by master hybridizer Don Dean in 2011 as a celebrated cross of 'Color Fantasy' and 'Silver Frost', this slow-growing perennial forms a perfectly structured, vase-shaped mound of intensely textured foliage. The thick, rubbery, and broadly ovate leaves feature deep seersuckered corrugation, slight mid-rib cupping, and elegant folds at the tips that beautifully catch shifting woodland light. Coated in a heavy, rich glaucous wax, its intense sapphire-blue coloration is remarkably durable, retaining its premium cool frosty appearance much later into the summer season than traditional blue varieties while offering outstanding natural resistance against slugs. In midsummer, sturdy blue-green scapes ascend above the plush canopy to display clusters of near-white to pale lavender flowers that enhance its dramatic, architectural presence.
Incorporate this unique selection into your shaded borders or woodland features by pairing it with delicate, shade-loving ferns, fine-textured variegated sedges, or the rich crimson plumes of dramatic astilbes to elevate the underlying textures of your garden layout.
Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves.
Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions. Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG
