Hosta 'Poetry in Motion'

Introduce a sense of elegant, fluid grace to your shade gardens with the breathtaking Hosta 'Poetry in Motion'. Living up to its lyrical name, this exceptional medium-sized perennial creates a visual symphony in the landscape with its gently cascading form. As it emerges in the spring, the dense mounds of foliage capture the light, adding soft color depth and premium texture to borders, woodland garden beds, and accent containers alike.

This cultivar features wonderfully sculpted leaves that showcase smooth contours and slightly rippled edges, giving the plant a dynamic, shifting appearance even on the calmest days. Mid-summer brings an extra layer of seasonal interest when slender, upright scapes rise cleanly above the satin-sheen foliage mound to reveal dense clusters of flaring, showy lavender flowers that provide an airy, striking contrast to the leaves below.

Maturing to a perfectly balanced 17 inches tall and spreading up to 37 inches wide, it acts as a rapid-growing and structurally dominant specimen that completely transforms quiet, dim corners of the garden. Remarkably hardy across Zones 3–9, its beautifully proportioned form features a striking growth habit, giving the architectural plant superb multi-angle appeal as it matures over the seasons.

Looking to pair your new shade structural accents with more vibrant perennial colors or delicate textures? Explore our collection to find premium companions like the radiant Echinacea 'Summersong' or the intricately detailed Fern 'Red Beauty' to complete your ideal layout.

Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves.

Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions.  Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG.
