Hosta 'Key Lime Pie'

The spectacular Hosta 'Key Lime Pie' brings appetizing color contrast and bold architectural presence to shaded garden settings, performing brilliantly as a rapid-growing landscape centerpiece. Registered by master hybridizer Hans Hansen in 2003 as a celebrated sport of 'Squash Casserole', this large-stature perennial develops a magnificent, wide-spreading mounded habit. The substantial, corrugated leaves feature deep medium-green centers framed by an exceptionally wide, irregular, and intensely ruffled chartreuse-to-yellow border that evokes the lime-tinted edges of its namesake dessert. Its heavy leaf substance naturally provides an outstanding structural defense against heavy slug pressure while maintaining its crisp, vibrant variegation from early spring through the late summer heat. In early summer, the majestic mound is crowned by graceful 30-inch glaucous scapes that bear elegant, pale lavender flowers, welcoming native hummingbirds to your shaded layout.

Incorporate this unique selection into your shaded borders or woodland features by pairing it with delicate, shade-loving ferns, fine-textured variegated sedges, or the rich crimson plumes of dramatic astilbes to elevate the underlying textures of your garden layout.

Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves.

Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions. Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG
