Hosta Forbidden Planet 5.25" Pot Well Rooted Perennial Shade Plant

Humble Hen Farm & Nursery
Size: 16" H x 30" W
Common Name: Hosta

Hosta 'Forbidden Planet'

An otherworldly and highly sought-after collector's specimen from hybridizer Mike Vasey, this brand-new introduction injects dramatic color contrast into the shade garden. Its sturdy, beautifully rounded leaves emerge with a unique greenish-gold waxy coating that slowly dissipates over the season, transitioning into a brilliant, glowing yellow-gold mound. What truly sets this cultivar apart are its striking, intensely saturated purple-to-red petioles (leaf stems) that hold the colorful foliage upright, creating an exceptional and bold architectural presence.

In midsummer, sturdy scapes arise above the changing foliage mound, displaying soft pale lavender flowers that offer an elegant, graceful contrast to the vibrant leaves and rich dark stems below.

Maturing to a versatile medium size of 16 inches tall and spreading up to 30 inches wide, it commands immediate attention without crowding smaller perennial boundaries or container gardens. Exceptionally hardy in Zones 3–9, it stands as a resilient, conversation-starting accent that gains more depth, color intensity, and structural beauty with each passing season.

Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves.

Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions.  Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG.
