Hosta 'Crumb Cake'

Hosta 'Crumb Cake' brings a delightful, intricate charm to smaller spaces, spinning out an impossibly dense, low-growing perennial cushion of highly stylized mini-foliage. This exceptional Bob Solberg creation showcases rounded, coin-like leaves with an intense, honey-gold satin finish that shifts into a bright chartreuse under deeper shade. The standout feature is its remarkably dynamic leaf structure; each golden blade is tightly wrapped in crisp, heavily rippled margins that expose deep burgundy petioles at the crown's center, adding a hidden layer of rich color. In late summer, short, sturdy mahogany scapes arise right above the wavy golden dome, presenting beautiful clusters of tubular orchid-lavender blossoms that amplify its multi-textured, artistic silhouette.

Tuck this diminutive, heavily rippled gold selection along the front edge of a woodland border beneath the fine, arching fronds of delicate shade-loving ferns. Bordering the perimeter with the low, narrow blades of variegated sedges creates a beautiful play on textures, while planting it adjacent to the miniature or dwarf plumes of dramatic astilbes emphasizes the rich wine-red tones of its upright flower scapes.

Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves.

Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions. Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG
