Beneficial Ladybugs
You might be asking yourself, “Why ladybugs?” Ladybugs, also known as ladybirds or coccinellids, are a very beneficial insect to the plants we grow here at Humble Hen Farm. They help us control the population of nuisance insects that are harmful to perennials, such as aphids. Because ladybugs eat many of the insects that cause damage to garden plants, a good population of them prevent the need for us to use harmful pesticides. Plus…..they’re just so darn cute! Watch as Stefanie releases 10,000 ladybugs into our greenhouse here at Humble Hen Farm in Abbottstown, PA.
